Oct. 17-18 Paul Aaroe Memorial
4-SS, 40/90, SD/60. Community Center, 293 Main St., Hackettstown, NJ. EF: $18, Under 18 & Over 65: $15 at site; $15 & $10 if rec'd by Oct. 15. Prizes: (b/15 entries): $40-$25-$15; U-2000, U-1800, U-1600, U-1400: $20 each, minimum two players each class. Additional prizes possible if more than 15 entries. Reg.: 10-10:45 a.m., Rds.: 11 a.m. & 4 p.m. each day, earlier by mutual agreement when possible. Byes: Two half-point byes available, but must score one-half point OTB to win a prize.     Thanks to Paul for creating such a great site. Also he has the class to post games he lost, even to scrubs.

    For the record, the Paul Aaroe Memorial will be held the weekend AFTER Columbus Day. The dates are Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17-18.

    The PAM, as it is known, honors one of the club's long-time stalwarts, Paul Aaroe, a Warren County judge. Paul passed away in 2000, in his late 80s.

    The PAM is a throwback tournament: Two-day weekend Swiss at a reasonable time control, with small prizes and a relaxed but competitive atmosphere.
